What Information We Collect
Our Site may provide online donation forms or other forms, which request personal information such as name, e-mail address, mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and credit card information. Our online form also may provide an opportunity to submit other personal demographic information and to indicate specific NCPHS programs of interest to you, if you wish to provide us with such information. The decision to submit such other personal demographic information is entirely voluntary. We may use this information to better understand the attributes and characteristics of those who utilize our Site. We may also use information gathered via our Site to improve our web-based services. We may periodically perform statistical analyses of aggregate user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of various areas on our website and to use such information to improve on our website’s ability to serve you better. While such aggregate data and statistics may be shared with strategic partners and other like-minded organizations, our members’ specific demographic and interest information will never be shared with any third parties. For additional information, please refer to the section on Sharing in this document.
How We Use and Disclose Information Collected Online
We generally use the information we collect online for the purposes for which it is provided and to communicate with you about our endeavors. For example, we use your personal information to process transactions that you enter into using our Site (such as donations or correspondence), and to respond to your questions or requests. We may also use your personal information to communicate with you about our organization or one of our communities and fund-raising activities.
We will provide personal information to law enforcement and other entities when we determine that such disclosure is required by subpoena, warrant, court order, or other applicable law or process.
We may request contact information when a user accesses certain pages on our Site, such as name, e-mail address, mailing address, and telephone number. We may use this information to send newsletters, marketing materials or other information about NCPHS events and activities, local volunteer opportunities and donation appeals, depending on contact preferences you select.
In order to make a donation on our Site, a user may need to first complete a donation form, for which the user must provide name, address and financial information (credit card number, security code and expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to provide donation receipts. If we have trouble processing a donation, we may use this contact information to get in touch with the donor. This information will be also used to send the user a tax receipt and or letter. We use a credit card authorizing and processing company, Elavon, to complete one-time on-line donations.
Our Site automatically collects an IP address from all visitors to our Site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, track users’ movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the Site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Use of “Cookies”
We take measures designed to prevent unauthorized intrusion to the Site and the alteration, acquisition or misuse of personal information. For example, our Site use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to help protect the security of information submitted online to the Senior Services for Northern California. SSL is a coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.
Other Web sites
Our Site contains links to other Web sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another Web site for which NCPHS has no responsibility. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on all such sites as their policies may be different than ours.
Our Sites are not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under eighteen years of age.
